Welcome to Texas Rock Gym!

Welcome to Texas Rock Gym, Houston’s premiere indoor rock climbing gym. Our facility is located in West Houston, one mile north of I-10, on Campbell Rd. We have been a proud part of the Houston Rock Climbing community for over 15 years now, and have introduced rock climbing to literally thousands of Houstonian’s. We offer 42 top-rope stations, a lead arch and extended lead areas, and a dedicated bouldering area with various features to climb on.

But we do a lot more than just offer climbing. Our Birthday Parties are a household name, (we still meet adults who had a birthday party here when they were a kid!), Scouts and church groups love our lock-ins, and our after-school program is in its second year, and gaining momentum!

Its not all about kids though. Extremely popular as well is our Team Building Program, and we are proud to have hosted many of Houston’s corporations, schools, and organizations team building events. For our members we offer a variety of classes and programs to get involved in, whether to supplement their fitness program, or help them create their own! Among the classes that are available at Texas Rock Gym are Yoga, Tai-Chi, Kung Fu, Parkour, Rock Hard Core Strength and Conditioning, and various climbing clinics and classes.

We strive to offer our community a healthy and safe place to train together. The atmosphere of the gym is important to us, as is the fact that we consider ourselves a “family” gym. We want to know our customers, and many of the staff have developed long-term friendships with our regulars. This is more than just working out, or climbing. Its a lifestyle. And we want you to be part of it.

Youth Strength and Conditioning

This summer I have started a youth program that meets three times a week, Monday:Wednesday:Friday, 11am-12pm.

If you have a youth, or know a youth that is currently off season in athletics, and looking to improve his/her General Physical Preparedness, send em in to talk to Coach Matt!

Our program focuses on building strength, stamina, explosive power, among many other things. Youth are also learning about sports nutrition, how to move functionally and safely, injury prevention, and correct usage and handling of weights.

The cost is $100 a month, and we will be training until the end of August.

Summer Climbing!

Man its hot out there this year! For those of you not willing to brave the heat at some of our great Texas climbing destinations, like Reimer’s Ranch, or Enchanted Rock, training for the fall and winter climbing season indoors is the way to go.

How are you training? Do you need help? Ask any of our instructors for tips on how to train for that project you have your sights on. We love to help, and some of us may have tips that could greatly optimize your training. There is a lot more to training for climbing than just getting on the wall!

On another note, our Summer camp is in full swing! Every year it grows a little more popular, and every year as a result of our summer camp our climbing community grows. Many of the kids that come to our camp develop a passion for climbing that motivates them to join the climbing team, which results in some ridiculously strong kids climbing in our gym. Quite a few of these kids are competing and qualifying on a national level. Kudos to Coach Josh and his staff of coaches in developing a strong Texas Rock Gym climbing team!

Welcome to Rock Hard Core Strength and Conditioning’s blog

Periodically we will update this page with information about fitness, nutrition, sports rehabilitation and recent workouts we have done.

Our goal is to provide the keys to a fitness lifestyle that is not only very maintainable, but also very results oriented.

What do we do?

We train. We bleed, sweat, cry and even puke. And we train some more. Forged in the hottest fires, we get hard, both physically and mentally. Things that used to intimidate us, we find ways to make harder. And we wouldnt do any of it, except it works. We are all proof. We watch our lifts get heavier, our times get faster, our waists get trimmer.

Change in hours!

Effective Monday, May 2nd, 2011:

We will be opening earlier on Saturdays, and closing earlier on Sundays.  That means our operating hours will be:

Monday-Thursday:    10am – 10pm
Friday:    10am – 11pm
Saturday:    8am – 11pm
Sunday:    10am – 6pm

ALSO:  if you have a party scheduled for a Sunday night, your party will be unaffected (you’ll actually have less people in the gym, so that’s probably a good thing for your group)!
