Birthday Party / Group Event Frequently Asked Questions
This page is here to help make sure your planned event goes as smoothly as possible. Whether you are hosting a birthday party, a youth group outing, or just want to have a good time with a bunch of friends, a rock climbing adventure is a perfect choice.1. How do your parties work?
The cost is $12.50 per climber, with a minimum of 10 climbers. You will get three hours in the gym, which includes check-in, safety training, and access to tables and chairs. Ask about free rental shoes for the birthday person!2. What do I need to do to make a reservation?
We require a $50 deposit for groups of 10-20, and a $100 deposit for groups of 21 or more. You can reserve your party online, or contact us.3. Is there a minimum age for a party?
Yes and no. For parties and groups that happen on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, we want (at least most of) the climbers to be at least 8 years old. If there are just a few children that are younger, that is ok - just be sure they have a parent present to help keep an eye on them! Anyone who will be belaying (see below) must be at least 14 years old. All participants must fill out one of our liability waivers, and minors must have theirs signed by their parent or legal guardian - not just any adult.4. What is a 'belayer'?
A 'belayer' holds the rope, and operates the safety equipment for the climber. The only requirement for someone to belay is that they be at least 14 years old. We do not provide belayers, but it is not difficult, and we can teach pretty much anyone how to do it. If the climbers are 14 or older, they can belay for each other. For groups with kids that are 13 or younger, you can recruit some parents to belay - they'll have a good time, too! You do not need a belayer for every climber - in fact, we recommend a ratio of 1 belayer for every 4 climbers.5. Can I bring my own food or decorations?
Yes! The only things we do not allow are: confetti, noisemakers, piñatas, silly string, and alcohol. Many parties like to have pizza delivered - but for a delicious lunch that won't weigh you down, we recommend the Cafe Bel Ami sandwich shop, located right down the street from us. Contact them at (713)984-1661 to make catering arrangements for your party.6. What's this about waivers?
ALL CLIMBERS AND BELAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE ONE OF OUR WAIVERS. Minors must have their waivers signed by a parent or LEGAL guardian. We suggest that you include these with your party invitations.7. Do you have printable invitations?
Yes! You will need Adobe Reader installed on your computer to view them.Birthday party invitation for girls

8. Anything else I need to know?
It is very important that all climbers and belayers arrive ON TIME for the safety orientation. The safety class is MANDATORY for all participants, and we only do one class per party. Also, for the sake of simplicity, we will issue one bill for your group. If you want to split it into part cash/check/credit card, that is ok.
What we do NOT want, for example, is a line of 25 people that all need change for a $20 bill. It is technically possible to split a transaction up, but it can get tedious and/or confusing (for us and you!).
