The number of hours per day that Americans are working are on the rise, according to an American Time Use survey published in 2015.

While in 2003 the average person was working 8.46 hours each weekday, in 2015 that number had risen to an average of 8.57 hours each weekday.

While that may seem like a small change, that extra time certainly adds up day after day, week after week, and month after month.

Furthermore, an Ernst & Young survey stated that 24% of Americans noted that they find it difficult to create a healthy work-life balance.

If you feel as though your employees are suffering from a strained work-life balance, it is the perfect time to treat your team to an outing to promote more time for them to relax and enjoy themselves.

In the Houston area, there is a wide range of options of what to do to enhance community and have a great time. Here are our top three favorite ideas.

Top 3 Houston Outings to Improve Work-Life Balance

A night at the theater

The Houston Theater website offers a wide range of plays and shows that are bound to appeal to almost any audience.

In order to sit back, relax, and indulge in some entertainment, look no further than this theater. From The Book of Mormon to Finding Neverland to Jersey Boys

– this theater boasts something for everyone!

This would be an experience your employees would not soon forget, and it would certainly contribute to their overall well-being by helping them jump start a movement towards a better balance between work, relaxation, and fun.

A bowling night

Bowling is a fun way to promote healthy competition, enjoy yourself, and unwind after a long day at the office.

Luckily, Houston is home to a Bowlmor bowling alley, which is one of the best in the business! With an impressive interior, a DJ, and tons of lanes – this joint can’t be beat when it comes to hitting some pins.

To laugh, wear funny shoes, bond, and leave the outing feeling relaxed and refreshed, this is the perfect venue to improve your team members’ work-life balance and assist in them hitting the “reset” button.

A rock climbing course

For something more adventurous and challenging, a rock climbing course is a great way to get everyone together and moving.

Texas Rock Gym has an invigorating course that can be adjusted to fit your group size and that can accommodate any skill level.

Encourage your employees to communicate clearly and build trust, all while having a great time and putting the day, week, or even month at the office behind them mentally.

It’s undoubted that they will walk out feeling not only accomplished and proud of themselves, but refreshed and more committed to doing things for themselves.

While a work-life balance may be a hard thing to get ahold of, as an employer it’s important that you encourage employees to maintain that healthy level of work, personal life, and fun.

With so many options of things to do in the Houston area, there’s no excuse not to take them out for something fun and relaxing ASAP!
