To add to that, yoga has endless benefits to those who practice it, from it being a calming force in one’s life to it improving cardio and circulatory health.
That being said, when you are attending your first class, you will probably wonder what the best ways to prepare for it.
We understand that it can seem intimidating to beginners, but we are here to help you ready yourselves and assure you that there is nothing to be scared of. Before you know it, you and your teammates will feel like seasoned pros.
What to Wear to Yoga
To feel most comfortable during your class, we suggest wearing pants rather than shorts. This is because many of the poses could cause shorts to be a bit more revealing than you may like. Form fitting yoga pants
– either long ones or cropped ones – are the best option for maximum comfort. These also make it easy to be flexible and stretch.
In addition to yoga pants, a tank top or t-shirt is best to wear on top for class. To prevent excessive sweating, a shirt that is made of a “wicking” material would be ideal.
Before coming to class, keep in mind that yoga is practiced barefoot. That means you might want to ensure that you have clean feet prior to the session. Finally, for those with long hair
– don’t forget a hair tie! Wearing your hair down may get in your way, so you will definitely appreciate the option to put it up.
What to Bring to Yoga
To start, a yoga mat is necessary for each class. Mats can be purchased anywhere sports equipment is sold and are inexpensive. Also, you may want to bring a towel to class to wipe down your mat should it get dirty or sweaty.
A hand or face towel is highly suggested, as it would be useful in the event that you sweat. Finally, do not forget to bring a water bottle in order to stay hydrated during class. Hydration is, of course, an important part of any workout!
