j.e.d.i. training film screening
As rock climbing continues to grow as a sport, new climbing areas and routes are needed to make way for this new generation of rock climbers. The question is, who will be developing these areas?
The majority of climbing routes in Texas have been established by [cis] white men but times are changing! We now have a new generation of route developers who are working to make our crags, and climbing in general more Just, Equitable, Diverse and Inclusive (J.E.D.I). That’s where J.E.D.I. Training Film comes in the picture – literally.
This short documentary follows Bree Jameson, an avid outdoors-woman, twin mom, and fierce advocate for social justice and equity. We follow Bree as challenges herself to become the first Black woman in Texas history to bolt and establish a first ascent.
Join us May 31st, 2024 for an evening of honoring the precedence and legacy set by Bree Jameson, celebrating the existing black climbing community in Houston, and sharing some brief discourse around generating exposure and accessibility to climbing for the black community in Houston.
